Mosaic Arts International 2025
Timeless Mosaics
Presented by the Society of American Mosaic Artists
Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens
August 26 – December 7, 2025
Happiness is a mosaic, composed of a thousand little stones, which separately and of themselves have little value, but which united with art form a graceful design. ~Delphine de Girardin
Mosaic, the intricate art of forming images from countless small pieces (tesserae) of colored glass, ceramic tiles, stone, and a myriad of other materials, boasts a rich and continuous history spanning millennia. Far from being a mere decorative technique, mosaic has served as a powerful medium for storytelling, spiritual expression, and the assertion of power across diverse civilizations. From ancient Pompeii to today’s New York City subways, the materials and methods employed by mosaic artists throughout history remain profoundly relevant, continuously reinterpreted, and enhanced by modern innovations in the art form.
The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens is honored to partner with The Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) for a juried exhibition presenting the finest contemporary mosaics from SAMA’s diverse international membership. The selected works celebrate both established and emerging artists, reflecting the diversity of the mosaic medium and its boundless applications encompassing fine art and architectural or community site-specific mosaics.
This exhibition is made possible by Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs, United Arts of Central Florida, the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, and the City of Winter Park.
