Seeking calm in a year that was anything but, the solace of creating in my safe and quiet home studio was a blessing. It is important to me in our ‘throw-away’ culture to reinvent discarded items or scrap glass into sacred art formed in prayer – finding beauty in the brokenness – and letting nothing be wasted. It was this mindset that led me to finally put to creative use the many broken dishes gifted to me over the years for my mosaic art. The calm, center whites are elevated, having risen above the surrounding turmoil.
