I am drawn to uncover a masterpiece in the broken, discarded, or unused pieces of daily life. My work is inspired by what is created on earth. I focus on the beauty of the materials and strive to highlight the color, movement, or other understated detail through andamento. Water Lilies was inspired by Renaissance artist Claude Monet’s Waterlilies paintings.
The slate is repurposed from roofing or flooring. Much of the stone is natural or recovered from natural stone tiles originally used on floors. Italian and Mexican smalti is completes the mosaic.
