Nico’s Blanket comes out of long measured response to the love and appreciation for my late dog Nico. She found comfort in a vibrantly colored blanket, purchased long ago at a yard sale in Oregon. As I traveled across country to move back to Chicago, I pictured this blanket for a future child. Although it may seem that my original hopes for the blanket never came to be, I realized as I watched her lovingly perched on the blanket, her favorite spot, that actually it had.
